Through its development operations, the House raises over $1 million annually to support the wide variety of programs, services and resources available to I-House resident members.
Contributions to the Annual Fund enable the House to subsidize the expenses of every resident member by approximately $2,500 each year and provide $400,000 in scholarship and fellowship aid to new and returning residents.
In addition to the Annual Fund , the Office of Development also raises funds for specific programs such as the New York City Performances Program, renovations of public spaces in the House, the endowment and other special projects.
Donors to the Annual Fund and special projects include Trustees, foundations, corporations, friends and alumni, all of whom help perpetuate the tradition of philanthropy on which the House was founded. Please visit our Honor Roll of Donors for a listing of last year’s donors.
Alumni Program
All residents who lived at the House for at least 30 consecutive days are considered alumni. Upon leaving International House, there are several ways to stay connected and engaged.
The Alumni Online Community enables alumni to keep in touch with former I-House friends through the use of the alumni directory, personal profiles and friends lists, class notesand a variety of other online services.
As registered members of the website, alumni receive the quarterly I-House World E-News, which keeps them informed of I-House programs and alumni activities. Alumni who keep the House updated with their current address will receive The World Newsletter, published twice a year.
International House, in part through its local and regional alumni chapters, offers numerous social and networking events throughout the year in locations worldwide. I-House has active alumni chapters in New York City, Germany, Canada and the United Kingdom. Alumni in the New York Area can also stay active in the I-House community through our Alumni Membership Program. These chapters are overseen by the World Council of Alumni, which provides leadership for the alumni program.
Alumni can also stay involved with the House through a number of volunteer opportunities and by supporting the Houses' scholarships, programs and facilities by contributing to the Annual Fund.
While your time at the House is limited to three years, your relationship with the House and the friends you make here is lifelong.
