SUMMARY:Resident Roundtable
DESCRIPTION:The global economic crisis, the massive bailouts of banks and other companies by some Western governments, and subsequent revelations that some of those companies then paid huge bonuses to their top executives, have all raised the question of the role of private corporations in the global economy. Multinational corporations now wield extraordinary power in countries all over the world. Are they too powerful? Do the activities of private corporations harm or benefit society? Do corporations have a responsibility to the wider public? Come to the final Resident Roundtable of the semester to discuss if and how the welfare of private companies and the welfare of society are or should be linked.
